The Kung Fu trilogy from Dreamworks is terrific. Excited to see what they do in 4.

Watched the 3 movies just recently and instantly fell in love with them. It's been a long time since I was this invested in an animated movie franchise. I had the impression that a kung fu movie about a panda would be ridiculous even for animation standards but damn was I wrong. The trilogy is very entertaining with equal dose of humor, fun, action, drama & emotions. For a seemingly silly kids movies, the emotional beats are powerful. Some examples include:Po Finds Inner PeaceorOogway AscendsBut the best 2 things I found about the movies were the world-building & villains. The world building is really cool especially the art design they use which is seemingly Asian inspired. This results in very cool imagery such as:https://ift.tt/D0FAuj5 to the villains, Tai Lung & Shen from movies 1 & 2 are expertly done. Of course adding in actors like Ian McShane & Gary Oldman to voice them adds extra charisma to them. But the designs & feats of both these villains have been done really well. Just take a look at the scene where Tai Lung escapes:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UsZNj9srzR8And how cool is the character design of Shen which makes him seem at home with a FromSoft game:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A89raehoAJcThe visuals are splendid & Music from Hans Zimmer & John Powell wonderfully support the action on screen.Movie 3 took a bit of a dip in quality imho but still very solid. Movie 2 was my favorite because it upped the drama & stakes plus the animation was incredible & Shen too of course.I put KFP trilogy higher than most animated franchises. I think it can easily stand up to 90% of Pixar/Disney output since the 2000s.Really hyped for movie 4 coming out next year as per Variety. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/LXCJg8V
