AKIRA is such a haunting movie. It left a huge impression on me even though it was a bit confusing at times. Not for those expecting Dragon Ball Z.
I genuinely got into anime after I saw AKIRA. It's a sci-fi animated movie involving bike-racing Juvenile delinquents, orphans gone bad and powerful beings. Don't ask me to explain what the movie was really about, I couldn't explain it, but I did enjoy the characters: the confident Biker Kaneda who's placed in an insane situation, Tetsuo who gets possessed by power and becomes a monster, the tragic Kaori, bad ass Kei, the creepy Alien/experiment kids...etc. I love anything that's super atmpspheric, eerie and also sad and solemn. That's part of why I got into Japanese animation because it was darker compared to the corny Hanna-Barbera crap I was feed to as a kid.I don't think a live-action remake could ever work. AKIRA is just too complicated for a live action remake to do it justice. If they couldn't even get GHOST IN THE SHELL right. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/koHBgpC
