A Face In The Crowd - A 1950s movie that predicts the rise of power-hungry celebrities

Any thoughts on this Elia Kazan movie? It’s from 1957 but it’s definitely ahead of its time. The story of a rural southern drifter named “Lonesome Rhodes” (Andy Griffith) who gradually transforms into a TV celebrity, using his power to lie and manipulate the public while dabbling in politics in the process. There’s also a surreal advertisement scene that looks like an early Viagra commercial. This movie has been compared to the rise of Trump’s presidency, but I believe it could be compared to any celebrity in this day and age who uses the media to gain power and popularity. It could be anyone, from talk show hosts to social media stars. Thoughts? via /r/movies https://ift.tt/u7Cw9Gl
