Dredd remains one of the best action films of the last thirty years and it deserves a sequel.
I doubt we’ll get one after this many years, nor is that long-rumoured show ever gonna come out, but goddamn if this film isn’t damn good. Karl Urban just nails this fascist authoritarian force of nature. The rest of the cast is great in their roles as well. Lena Heady just kills it as the antagonist, Ma Ma.It’s such a tight action thriller, with a simple but effective plot, great world building, and a fantastic sense of pacing and momentum. The cinematography is also nothing to sniff at.I wonder if this movie would have been more successful if it was released in the current climate of streaming mid-budget titles, blockbuster comic book films, or as an alternative to the John Wick series which caught huge success later. This film feels like it could have been the start of such a great action franchise, and I’m sad they couldn’t build off this great, great film. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/8WrUO1m
