After the surprise hit that Jumanji became, we're probably going to be seeing some more remakes of classic 90's coming of age comedies. I feel like Honey I Shrunk the Kids could be that next hit.

Upon hearing the news of the Jumanji remake, the general concensus seemed to be negative. Most people thought it was unnecessary and were hesitant. It certainly wasn't a homerun by any means, but Jumanji turned out to be a blast. With modern effects and CGI, mixed with some decent writing and solid casting choices, it became a major box office hit and surely garnered enough attention for a sequel or two.Keeping all those factors in mind, Honey I Shrunk the Kids could be executed in the same vein. Again, you might feel hesitant to have this great adventure comedy remade (especially if you grew up in the 90's and watched the VHS every week), but I'd love to see the Szalinski backyard with modern effects. The giant ant would be terrifying and all the dangerous environmental obstacles would look gorgeous.Imagine someone like Will Ferrell as Wayne Szalinsky and John C. Reilly as Big Russ (who then get shrunk themselves in the sequel). Who do you guys think would fit the roles well?Edit: For the many who keep pointing out the same thing, I know that Jumanji isn't a remake in the traditional sense of the word (as it definitely tied into the first one and was more like a soft reboot), but I felt like for the spirit of this post it could be talked about as a remake, as I feel like it shared more elements with a remake than a late sequel. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2pEE8Om
