Movies that try to have their cake and eat it too

Honestly the new CruellaIt at one point has Cruella give multiple speeches about how the best way to be herself is to be a "bad bitch" who doesn't take shit from anybody but rather dishes out...But it also has a sub-plot with her and the two thieves where she's portrayed as being in the wrong for treating the thieves like crap and has her learn a lesson about respecting her familyIt's like Disney was a bit afraid the movie would inspire kids to be terrible people so it executed the story in a way that says "Yas Queen be a bad bitch BUT ALSO REMEMBER THE IMPORTANCE OF FAMILY WHILE DOING SO!" It's like their winking at the idea of being rebellious without really encouraging it rather than just giving in to being a crazy, hedonistic movie. Like they're saying "Be yourself and get loose and rebellious BUT NOT TOO LOOSE AND REBELLIOUS!"With that being said, though, it's still one of the better live-action Disney movies/spin-offs of the last 10 years. It's just kind of a bummer Disney again still put the movie on a bit of a leash (no pun intended) though not at all surprising. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/38mMlfX
