Life (1999) with Eddie Murphy/Martin Lawrence

Has anyone else seen this and found it to be an underrated gem? I was expecting something light and got smacked with a really heavy sense of what long-term friendships should be. I think it's Martin Lawrence's best perfomance.People lament how Eddie had a downswing in his career in the 90s. But, 1999, wow, Bowfinger and Life are both amazing performances.
