The final scene of Whiplash gets better every time I see it

Just rewatched the Whiplash (again) and I can’t think of many films I’ve seen that end on such a dizzying high. The direction and editing are brilliantly frenetic and the solo itself is absolutely gripping. The dynamic between Andrew and Fletcher brings it all together - it starts as a fuck you to Fletcher and it’s never not bittersweet to me to see Andrew ultimately default back to craving his approval by the end. The film poses the question whether true greats need to be pushed to their limits to reach their full potential and the conclusion sums that up so well via /r/movies https://ift.tt/c93zIVA
