There used to be hair sex in Avatar right?

I swear when I saw Avatar originally, during the sex scene they connected their hair together. My friends remember this happening also. When I saw Avatar last night the hair sex was missing. Did that used to be in the original or did I imagine that? Why would James Cameron remove it?
