What is your least favorite movie trope, and what is a movie that uses that same trope perfectly (in your opinion)?

Me, I HATE the circling monologue - where the protagonist of the scene just stands there while the antagonist walks around them talking menacingly - it's the most lazy shorthand for the whole good guy/bad guy standoff. The later Harry Potter movies were absolutely abysmal for this, but it's in way more movies than that and it's always terrible. One movie that does do it really well though is The Dark Knight. When Joker confronts Rachel at the party, he doesn't really talk until after he's done circling her and and is standing in front of her. He also does this thing where he leans in to smell her and she flinches, that and with the camera also moving around them counter-clockwise it helps me to forget that they're using this overplayed trope. via /r/movies https://ift.tt/2L0WaHY
