An adaptation of the Roman epic "I, Claudius" was cancelled mid-production in 1937 after a troubled shoot culminated in the star actress being disfigured in a car crash. The unused footage of Charles Laughton as Claudius is nonetheless considered some of the greatest acting in golden age hollywood:
