Why is the first Pirates of the Caribbean so God damn good?

Great fight choreography, great casting, and a plot that's interesting and fun the whole way through, for a movie that's based of a at that point nearly 40+ year old Disney ride, it has no right to be as good and entertaining as it is. You can say what you want about the rest of that original trilogy, and God knows quality took a nose dive after those first 3, but that original movie stand alone was so much more fun and enjoyable of a watch than it had any right to be via /r/movies https://ift.tt/Aiuq421
